Such pretty Malabrigo... and more things!

Monday, 1 October 2012
We got some new Malabrigo in at Baaad Anna's yarn store...

 Some Worsted weight

  (More Worsted weight)

 And some sock weight!

(And some more Sock weight!)

I'm also going to be some plotting with this beautiful ball of Louet Sport... so lovely. It's less red in person, more purple loveliness.

Also, a swatch! I wish I could put dibs on this lace for ever and ever! I love it so much! Designing really heavily right now with it. Much love :)

I did the yarn harvest 2012!

Monday, 24 September 2012
I took photos inconsistently throughout the day, but me and Aliza went crawling for Yarn Harvest 2012!

We drove around to Black Sheep Yarns, 88 Stitches, Knit and Stitch shoppe, Baaad Anna's, Gina Brown's yarn & Urban yarns!

Some of Aliza's bounty from Black Sheep Yarns!

This is what the day looked like mostly.

But then Ikea breakfast/lunch happened. Aliza modelling some mediocre Ikea chocolate!

The Knit & Stitch shoppe had this amazing wall of yarn! And hanging-up baby which piqued my interest!

Our final shop was Gina Brown's yarn, which had A WALL OF MALABRIGO

Look at this amazing wall! SO PRETTY!

So overall the day was pretty great!

Finished the crescent shawl

but I can't block the thing properly. I left all my blocking wires and pins at home... I got it wet though and lied it flat to dry and it's looking satisfactorily! I'm pretty happy that this thing is done!

Does the garter top look too roll-y? Ah well, I am not ripping this damn thing back again.

Shawl pattern coming soon!

Mini Rasta! Rastita!

Designing a neck thing to display the lovely colours in this yarn! It's soft felted and light and squishy and it's... it's... Malabrigo!

Malabrigo!

Thursday, 8 March 2012
So. Me, Caitlin, and Nicola have the privilege to test-knit a new Malabrigo yarn!
It's called Rastita, (also known as mini-rasta)

We're all designing fun things out of it! Nicola is going to be doing a beret/hat-like thing! Caitlin is knitting wrist warmers or leg warmers or a big bow possibly! I am planning on doing something lovely for around your neck! To display the lovely colours!

We're all so excited we could puke.

Photos!

Magic happened

Friday, 2 March 2012
Me and Caitlin are knitting masterminds of the yarn world.

I will keep you updated...

We're waiting for stage two of our wool-wrapped plan to arrive in the mail.

Muhahahaha.

Also, may I remind you how much I love Malabrigo?

A lot. I love Malabrigo a lot.

loss of knit-spiration.

Wednesday, 22 February 2012
I feel like recently I have lost my inspiration to knit. It hasn't happened before and I find it pretty scary. I did the summer flies shawl that I posted about last week to try and cheer me up - but it didn't really impassion me. What I really want to do is learn how to put lace charts into shawls and design fancy lace shawls, but I've found charting and lace-work to be a quite difficult thing to do and design. I'm hoping a class will pop up or someone could teach me their secrets to lace shawls... I have knit many complicated lace projects with little to no problem - but the concept of designing it and making it work seems to be above me. For now at least.

Anyway, knitting drama aside, I decided to knit a wall-hanging thing out of a ball of Malabrigo sock (and tiny 2mm needles) that I have had for literally ever. This is probably my favourite Malabrigo colourway, Archangel.

The photo which colours are truest to life are in the first shot of it on the swift. The other one had all the red and sunlight in it and my camera just freaked out not knowing what to do.

This one has the truest colour of the two photos.
All balled up and ready to knit!
Babe's helping by enjoying the sunlight.

Sweater urges

Thursday, 2 February 2012
I'm getting that sweater urge again. I have three possibilites in mind...

Estelle, I would knit it out of Galway heathers... a brown-y red-y heather.

Estelle

Georgia, I have knit this pattern before and it turned out waaaay too huge. So I ripped it out, I still have all the yarn (Malabrigo sock ochre) and I think I might have the patience to try and knit it again. This time in a smaller size.

Georgia

I probably won't knit this one. I don't like the way the sleeves are done... at least I don't think I'll like it. But it's a nice lace pattern, and the shortness of it is appealing... less knitting.
